What are the best marketing techniques for an inside sales guy to generate prospective leads for IT Infrastructure Management Services(IMS/RIM)?
I’m an inside sales person working with Calsoft IMS (www.calsoftit.com). Calsoft IMS is a division of Calsoft Labs (an IT services company based in Chennai, India) and is a newly started (one year old) business division. We have just 5-6 companies as our clients and looking to expand our business in USA. As an inside sales person, my role is to generate qualified prospective leads through email-marketing and tele-marketing.
My current marketing techniques involve
- Extensive email campaigning
- Tele-calling and
- Virtual seminars (Webinar) for our RIM and VMWare solutions.
Please suggest me some more methodologies/techniques through which i can achieve better results and conversions. Through the above mentioned marketing activities i’m not able to achieve self-satisfying results. every input from sales people who are in the IT Infrastructure management industry will be very helpful.

I’m being advised by my manager to call companies to acquire names and email addresses of management staff for future marketing services. We are being made to call from a blocked number, and act as though we are or were recently customers at these places. Is there anything illegal about this practice?
I’m feeling like it is unethical, but wanted to find out if there were legal implications to this, as well.
Thanks!

I work as a Marketing Executive for an in-house Sales & Marketing department. Although a small company in terms of staff, it delivers services nationally to some major clients. My role involves marketing and graphic/web design. These are my main duties:
• Management of all Marketing & PR activities
• Design of company website, marketing literature, email marketing, display advertising and any other promotional materials, including client presentations
• Lead management – involves advanced Excel functions
• Database management
• SEO/PPC
• Internal communication
• Management of business partner relationships (2 major mobile network providers)
• An element of performance management
Although I don’t hold a marketing qualification, I have now been in the job for 2 years and get positive feedback from my employer. I earn £14.5k basic + bonus. Despite promises otherwise, the bonus scheme is barely worthwhile – weighing in at £200 quarterly (before tax).
Comments appreciated!

I’ve got a campaign running and I would like to set up a list to collect e-mails from subscribers and allow me to download it into an excel table of email addresses.
Are there any free / low cost software or (preferably) online list management websites that you can recommend? I’ve tried searching on Google but I’m not sure what search terms to use.
Here’s what I would like to happen:
1) subscribers visit a website to leave their contact details to sign up to my newsletter alerts
2) I visit the website and download the emails of the subscribers into an excel file.
3) I upload the excel contacts into my existing email software to get in touch with my subscribers.

If i am using a content management system to run my website and decide to hold data in its database in order to run a password protected area, what if any data protection considerations do i need to take into account? The data held will be Email, First Name and Surname, and of course username and password.
